Hey! I’m Alissa.

I’m a Mentor for Highly Sensitive People (HSP). Being an HSP was not always easy for me, and I have a feeling you may relate to my story…

I grew up in a small town in Minnesota. I was a passionate, creative girl who also tended to be very emotional. I felt everything deeply and intensely. I often heard, “You’re so sensitive!” and “Stop being so dramatic!”.

Internally, I felt like my sensitive nature was an issue and something that needed to be hidden. So, I became a master at hiding it and leaned into behaviors like overachieving, caring about my appearance, and appeasing others… which seemed to get me validation and acceptance.

When I was 22-years-old, I moved to California to pursue a career in the fashion industry. My first job was in a fast-paced, high-stress retail environment. As a highly sensitive, deeply empathetic person, working in this type of environment was jarring for me. I did my best to develop a “thick skin”, but within a few months of my new job, I was diagnosed with severe digestive issues that were induced by the constant anxiety and stress in my life.

What felt like a tragedy at the time, ended up being the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me. I was diagnosed with Leaky Gut and SIBO which forced me to look at the way I was treating myself and my body. In working with a holistic practitioner, I learned that the only way I could fully heal was by learning to reduce my anxiety and stress. 

So, I got serious about it. I dove deep into the world of self-help, personal development, and emotional healing.

While on my self-discovery journey, my mom introduced me to the book, “The Highly Sensitive Person” by Dr. Elaine Aron and my life forever changed. I learned that I had a personality trait called High Sensitivity. It explained why I’d always felt more sensitive than most, and more importantly, it showed me that I wasn’t alone.

From reading that book, I learned that there are a lot of benefits to being an HSP. Through a lot of healing and inner work, I eventually learned to embrace my sensitivity and embody the magic of this unique trait. 

Nowadays, I’m obsessed with helping other HSPs see the power in their sensitivity through my programs, podcast, and online content. I truly believe the world is a better place when more heart-centered humans feel good in their skin. I’m here to be your friend and guide along this path, helping you see the way!
